The Silk Road
Neither East or the West
On the both sides
Why? There is no sign
Of a silkworm
Came along the Silk Road – robed in a silk robe
at the bottom of reeling pots water boils
young silkworm carcasses decay
the deadly anguish screamed when burned
becomes silk and flows in air
a young one of a silkworm who died
who does not dream silk
tuck inside shade of mulberry
shivers and coils in cold
Can Crows Answer?
As of now at Pettah
In the shanties
Jamfruit, Peepul, Kottamba
Crow eggs may be zipping
How can crows
Answer the questions they ask
When chicks come out
Mother flies early in morning
Carrying an ekel broom in her beak
Parks – walks -large gardens
Tames them with her broom strokes
Cynic leaves fall as a habit
Tomorrow disregarding labour
Mother why don’t we
Move to a place
At least with a small backyard
Father at Park Road
Sells steel jewellary, rings and necklaces
Feathers hurt by day’s sore
Fall day by day
Soles swell everyday
While we watch daddy!
Why can’t we live a life?
Like orioles - doves
Sheds them everyday
As of now at Pettah
In the shanties
Jamfruit, Peepul, Kottamba
Crow eggs may be zipping
How can crows
Answer the questions they ask
When chicks come out
-Hashitha
